At Marassi, De Rossi’s Rossoblù secured their first precious point, though they were booed off the pitch by the fans. The newly promoted side, led by Alvini, proved once again to be a well-organised team that will be in the mix for survival right until the end. One goal in each half: the visitors took the lead in the 14th minute through Kvernadze, with Vasquez equalising for the Rossoblù in the 50th minute. In the first half, Genoa started well and played some good football, but Alvini’s side proved clinical, capitalising on their only real chance created by Kvernadze on the counter-attack. The Georgian striker wriggled free with a magical dribble past Marcandalli and beat Bijlow. Genoa’s reaction was immediate, but Baldanzi missed a glorious chance when he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
