Football is my life and I’ll always follow it, but tennis has now won a place in my heart.” So said Ronaldo Nazario da Lima – known to everyone as ‘The Phenomenon’ – speaking from the stands in New York whilst watching the US Open women’s final, won by Elena Rybakina over Aryna Sabalenka, about his great passion for tennis. Ronaldo is a huge fan of Sinner and, when talking about the current state of Italian football compared to that of tennis, he told Supertennis: “It’s a very tough time for Italian football; let’s hope that changes quickly. Tennis, on the other hand, is marvellous. There are lots of Italian tennis players doing well, especially Jannik Sinner, who is doing very well indeed. I have an incredible fondness and admiration for him; I hope to watch one of his matches soon.” Finally, he offered his prediction on who will win the men’s final scheduled for tonight. “I’d say Zverev, even though Shelton is playing brilliantly,” concluded Ronaldo.
