The announcement was made by the Spanish Football Federation, whose board of directors unanimously approved the contract extension. De La Fuente will thus lead La Roja – fresh from their World Cup triumph in America – at the 2030 World Cup as well as the 2028 and 2032 European Championships. “ “We are talking about the most successful manager in the history of the national team,” emphasised Rafael Louzan, president of the Spanish Football Federation. “After 14 years with us, a long-term future is something De La Fuente deserves.” Since taking charge of the first team, De La Fuente has won 38 out of 50 matches played, setting a record run of 38 matches without defeat.
