Milan, 22 Sept. (LaPresse/AP) – The coroner has determined that the actress Hayden Panettiere died as a result of an accidental overdose of various drugs, including fentanyl. Panettiere, aged 36, was found unconscious in a flat in Greenville, South Carolina, on 16 August. Also present in the flat were her partner Brian Hickerson – with whom she had an on-again, off-again relationship – and his brother, Zach Hickerson. According to a statement from the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, traces of fentanyl and one of its chemical by-products were detected in Panettiere’s system, along with the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam. The office has not released any further details of the post-mortem report concerning the former child prodigy.
