Milan, 25 Sept. (LaPresse) – Luna Rossa has won the America’s Cup preliminary race in the waters off Naples. The Italian boat, in the lead from the very start, held off a challenge from the Swiss team Alinghi, who finished second, 0.20 seconds behind. The two New Zealand boats came third and fourth, ahead of the other Italian boat, Luna Rossa Youth&Women. With this victory, Luna Rossa takes the lead in the standings with 19 points. At the end of the eight scheduled fleet races, the two boats with the most points will face each other in Sunday’s final match race.
