(LaPresse) – George Russell dominated qualifying for the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix and claimed pole position with a time of 1:42.526, beating second-placed Charles Leclerc by over eight-tenths of a second; Leclerc secured a front-row start for Ferrari, finishing just one-thousandth of a second ahead of Oscar Piastri’s McLaren in third. Sixth place went to Lewis Hamilton’s other Ferrari, whilst championship leader Kimi Antonelli will be forced to start from sixteenth on the grid after damaging his Mercedes in Q1. Max Verstappen was only eighth, behind even his team-mate Isack Hadjar, who secured an excellent fourth place just days after the official announcement of his contract renewal with Red Bull for the 2027 season as well.
