Milan, 26 Sept. (LaPresse) – George Russell has won the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the Baku circuit. The British Mercedes driver, who started from pole position, led from start to finish and crossed the line ahead of the two Red Bulls driven by Max Verstappen and Isak Hadjar, who were making their return to racing. Fourth place went to Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari, ahead of Kimi Antonelli’s other Mercedes, which managed to fight back through 11 places. Sixth place went to Lewis Hamilton’s other Ferrari. It was a disaster for McLaren, with Lando Norris retiring and Oscar Piastri finishing outside the points due to a glaring error whilst battling for the podium. The race was marked by two safety car deployments in the middle stages, first following an accident involving Alexander Albon in his Williams and then a collision between the two Alpines driven by Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto and Norris’s McLaren.
