(LaPresse) – “I fully agree with President Ceferin when he says he hopes that the relevant bodies will take a decision as soon as possible in accordance with the rules of the sporting system. This is exactly what CONI has always done throughout its 112-year history and will continue to do in the future. In Italy, CONI is, by law, the Confederation of Sports Federations and, as such, acts within its remit, rejecting interference and pressure of any kind, as enshrined in the Olympic Charter.” This was stated in a note by CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio regarding the comments made by UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, who, in an interview with *La Gazzetta dello Sport* concerning the possible placing of the FIGC under administration, declared that “any form of political interference could undermine the confidence of UEFA and other partners, which would not be in the interests of either Italian football or the Euro 2032 tournament”, which Italy will co-host with Turkey. “And President Ceferin had already expressed this view in 2017, four years before Italy was due to host the European Championship, when CONI, chaired at the time by Giovanni Malagò, intervened with an extraordinary measure concerning the FIGC,” added Buonfiglio.
