Rome, Oct. 1 (LaPresse) – Flavio Cobolli’s adventure at the China Open (ATP 500 – prize money $4,089,385) ended in the first round. The Italian, world No. 7 and fourth seed, was defeated 6-3, 6-2 by Russian Roman Safiullin (No. 84). The 1997-born player produced an objectively outstanding performance, having already reached the semifinals in Hangzhou just a few days ago. Safiullin was able to take an early lead in both sets and then defend his service games impeccably, unfortunately for Cobolli.
