Rome, Oct. 6 (LaPresse) – “I have always supported and reiterated two very simple principles, but ones that can never be taken for granted: respect for the rules, for everyone, and the autonomy of sport, in compliance with the laws of the State. Today, CONI, through its bodies and in the exercise of its prerogatives, has made its decisions on the appointment of a commissioner for the FIGC, which fully belong to the autonomy of the sports system.” This was stated by Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi regarding the appointment of a commissioner for the FIGC. “There is a rule that was not respected and a solution that has been identified by the sports institutions, reaffirming its effectiveness. As I have reiterated several times, most recently yesterday in Pescara on the occasion of the Italy Under-21 national team’s match, Italian football needs calm, responsibility and joint work, each in their own role and with respect for those roles. On the part of the Government,” the minister concluded, “there will continue to be respect for autonomy, oversight within the powers provided for by law and full institutional cooperation in the interests of Italian sport.”
