Rome, 7 Oct. (LaPresse) – Matteo Berrettini got off to a winning start at the Shanghai Masters 1000. The Italian tennis player beat the American Aleksandar Kovacevic in three sets – 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-4 – in a match lasting over two hours. “I’m very pleased with how I reacted after losing the first set. I kept playing, and I’m really proud of that,” Berrettini went on to say. “I felt I’d played better than him and had more chances. I lost a point on my serve, in my opinion, right up to the tie-break, and then I committed two double faults – in short, I didn’t play well. But I fought back – something I hadn’t managed to do in a similar situation last week – but I fought back, and above all I fought back because I hadn’t managed to do so last week; it was a similar situation, so I’m very pleased with how I handled that moment of nervousness.”
