At the Shanghai Masters 1000, he wrapped up his first-round match with a convincing victory over Bernard Tomic (No. 185, coming through qualifying), winning 6-3, 6-1 in just 52 minutes. In the second round, the Italian will face American Taylor Fritz (No. 11 seed and No. 12 in the world).
