Milan, 13 Oct. (LaPresse) – The Asian Champions League match between Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr and the Uzbek side Neftchi Fergana, scheduled to take place in Riyadh, was postponed by an hour on Monday after the Saudi Arabian Civil Defence issued a security alert. The small crowd at Al-Awwal Park remained in the stands awaiting kick-off. The Saudi-led coalition stated that it had intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched on Monday by Houthi rebels towards Riyadh. At least three explosions were heard in the city on Monday evening. The Saudi Civil Defence, which had warned residents via mobile phone alerts, subsequently announced that the danger had passed. Al-Nassr went on to win the match 3–1. Among the goalscorers was Cristiano Ronaldo, who took his career tally to 781 goals – 19 short of the 1,000 mark.
