Rome, 21 Oct. (LaPresse) – Como have pulled off a stunning feat in their first Champions League season, securing a prestigious 4–1 victory over Manchester United at the ‘Sinigaglia’ stadium on Matchday 3 of Europe’s premier competition. The Red Devils had not lost away to an Italian side since 2007. Nico Paz broke the deadlock early on in the 2nd minute with a shot from the edge of the box following an assist from da Cunha. In the second half, the young star was once again in the thick of the action: first, in the 49th minute, he provided the assist for Douvikas to double the lead, and then he found the net himself in the 57th minute, capitalising on a defensive error by the opposition, cutting into the box and firing home with a left-footed shot on the run to make it three for Como. The fourth goal, scored by Ramon, sealed the victory in the 76th minute. In the 91st minute, Zirkzee netted a consolation goal for the English side. Fabregas’s Como side therefore continue to impress and, having taken their tally to 6 points in the single-group standings, have all but secured their place in the next round. Meanwhile, United’s run of poor form continues; they travelled to Como with a heavily reshuffled line-up due to numerous injuries. For Como, the clash against the historic English club was an opportunity to test their ambitions and make amends for the 3–2 defeat suffered in Rotterdam against Feyenoord.
