Milan, 25 Oct. (LaPresse) – Juventus needed just one half to secure a 2-0 victory at Lecce in the late kick-off of Serie A matchday 8. Spalletti’s Bianconeri triumphed at the Via del Mare with two goals from McKennie and Douglas Luiz in under a quarter of an hour. Three crucial points to stay in touch with the top of the table, but Juve are still struggling enormously to convert the chances created by their strikers. After a dull first half-hour, Douglas Luiz took centre stage, first providing a superb assist for McKennie’s opener in the 29th minute, then scoring the second himself just before half-time with a razor-sharp right-footed strike from the edge of the box that caught Falcone off guard. It was the Brazilian playmaker’s first goal and first assist in Serie A for Juventus. In the second half, Lecce tried to fight back with pride; Di Francesco’s side upped the tempo and forced Juve to drop deeper and defend with a little too much difficulty. The Salentini were particularly dangerous through the newly introduced Esteban and the pace of N’Dri. Woltemade, however, missed a glaring chance, literally squandering the opportunity to make it 3–0 right in front of Falcone. This was mirrored in the closing stages by the newly introduced Cabal. Lecce finished the match with 10 men following Gaspar’s sending-off in stoppage time. With this victory, Juve draw level with Frosinone on 14 points in sixth place, whilst Lecce remain on 9 points.
