Rome, 26 Oct. (LaPresse) – Italian captain Filippo Volandri has announced the official line-up of the five players who will be aiming for a fourth consecutive Davis Cup world title – the fifth in the competition’s history. The squad comprises Flavio Cobolli (No. 6 in the ATP rankings), Luciano Darderi (No. 23), Lorenzo Musetti (No. 26), Andrea Vavassori (No. 7 in the ATP doubles rankings) and Simone Bolelli (No. 10 in the ATP doubles rankings). Under the regulations, up to a maximum of three players may be substituted from the Team Nomination submitted on 26 October. Any such changes must be notified by 11.00 (Italian local time) on the day before the start of the matches, i.e. Monday 23 November. “As usual, these selections have been made taking into account the current rankings. The coming weeks leading up to our new Davis Cup adventure will be crucial for me. Together with my entire staff, we will work to assess each player’s condition in order to determine their availability, so that we can field the best possible line-up,” said Volandri. “We know we have a very strong team, as we can count on a broad squad of players, which, in addition to these, also includes Matteo Berrettini, Matteo Arnaldi and Lorenzo Sonego – key figures in previous editions. We expect to be supported, as always, by our fantastic fans, whose enthusiasm has enabled our national team to embark on an extraordinary winning streak. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Jannik the very best of luck, so that he can make a full recovery and return to us soon.”
