Rome, 28 Oct. (LaPresse) – The AIC and AIAC are ready to announce Adriano Galliani’s candidacy, whilst – with the support of Como – the majority of Serie A clubs remain behind Giovanni Malagò. These are the latest rumours in the race for the FIGC presidency, according to information obtained by LaPresse just a few days before the deadline – set for 4 November – for submitting nominations ahead of the federation elections to be held on 14 December in Rome. With the Lombardy club’s endorsement imminent, the current FIGC commissioner can indeed count on the support of the top flight. A telephone meeting took place today between the four leagues – Serie A, Serie B, LegaPro and LND – to try to reach a consensus ahead of the upcoming federation elections and gauge potential unity behind a single candidate. The meeting proved inconclusive: a further update between the Serie A clubs is scheduled for Friday. Meanwhile, however, according to reports, the technical bodies (the Players’ Association and the Coaches’ Association) are ready to put forward the long-serving Milan executive, who just a few days ago registered as a member of the Milanese amateur club Enotria 1908, suggesting he intends to challenge Malagò for the presidency of the Italian Football Federation.
