Rome, 31 Oct. (LaPresse) – A victory that counts double. Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini have qualified for the final of the ‘Toray Pan Pacific Open’, the WTA 500 tournament currently being played on the hard courts of the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan. In doing so, they have secured the final spot at the WTA Finals in the doubles. In the semi-finals, they defeated Slovakia’s Tereza Mihalikova and Britain’s Olivia Nicholls (ranked 10th in the Race) 6-4, 6-0, having previously beaten them this year in Miami and Wuhan. The Italian pair, who are currently ninth in the Race, will return to the Finals in the doubles for the third consecutive year, aiming to progress beyond the group stage for the first time. Sara and Jasmine are ninth in the Race – the final spot to secure a place at Indian Wells, given the absence of Anna Danilina and the Serbian Aleksandra Krunic (third in the Race), as the latter tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee at the US Open.
