Milan, Nov. 2 (LaPresse) – “I believe in the work, I believe in this team, in what it has achieved and what it will achieve. They are great champions, they have shown that over the years, and they have set a certain standard to take Inter to the top. There are negative incidents and mistakes, which we must look at in order to learn and move forward.” Inter coach Cristian Chivu said this at a press conference on the eve of the Champions League match away to Feyenoord. “I know what this stadium means to its team: I know the atmosphere. It won’t be easy in this hostile environment, but it’s great, it’s why we play in the Champions League, and it’s great to face teams of this kind,” he continued. “How many points have we set ourselves as a target in the league phase? We take it one match at a time. We’ve realised that around 16 points are needed to finish in the top eight; we currently have three. We know this won’t be an easy match for us, we know who we are and what we want to do: I’m convinced we’ll put in a great performance.” In Chivu’s view, the Dutch team “raise their game at home in the Champions League. They have intensity and quality in many players, especially up front, with standout performers such as Hadj Moussa and Zechiel, for example. They have players who are good in one-on-one situations and a striker who knows how to bring the team into play. We must bring out our own strengths,” he concluded. “How is the team doing? We’ve had to manage a couple of difficult situations and find solutions with the players available to us. We’ve got Provedel back, and Pavard has also returned to training with the group after his injury.”
