Milan, 4 Nov. (LaPresse) – “The training camp? It’s a way to spend time together, build closer relationships with the players and hold group and one-to-one discussions. I think it was the right decision at a time when we needed to take a break. We’re going through a difficult period, but let’s try to make it as short as possible.” So said Atalanta manager Maurizio Sarri, speaking to Sky on the eve of the Conference League match against Kairat. “On Monday we had an excellent first half, but in the second half there were some emotional reactions once the match was effectively over. We needed to take to the pitch with greater determination. We created plenty of chances, but we squandered them all,” he added, reflecting on the home defeat to Parma in the league. “We’re under scrutiny every three days – I accept that and it doesn’t faze me in the slightest. At club level, I can see everyone doing their bit to help us, and that’s fine,” Sarri continued. Finally, on the subject of their opponents. “Over the last 11 months, they’ve lost 2–1 at San Siro (against Inter) and 3–2 in London against Arsenal. They’ve evolved as a team in footballing terms; they’re a dangerous side and they’ve changed manager. We’ve got a few things to work on,” he concluded.
