Ukraine, Madrid: ‘Sending troops is not a problem, but it is necessary to talk about it’

Madrid (Spain), 3 March (LaPresse) – Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said in an interview with Telecinco that sending troops on peacekeeping missions is not a problem for Spain and that the country has already deployed 3,000 troops on NATO's eastern flank or in Lebanon. However, he argued that, as far as Ukraine is concerned, it is ‘premature’ to talk about sending troops there at the moment because peace has not yet been achieved. Spain ‘has never turned its back on any mission that was truly about peace’, but it is ‘premature’ to talk about troops in Ukraine, Albares remarked to Telecinco.
