Ukraine, media: Putin ready for truce with conditions

Milan, March 7 (LaPresse) – Russia is willing to discuss a temporary truce in Ukraine on condition that progress is made towards a definitive peace agreement. This is reported by Bloomberg on its website, citing sources familiar with the matter in Moscow. According to the sources, the offer was reportedly made during talks last month in Saudi Arabia between senior Russian and American officials and, in order to agree to a cessation of hostilities, there needs to be a clear understanding of the framework principles of a final peace agreement. In particular, according to the sources in Moscow cited by Bloomberg, Russia will specifically insist on defining the parameters of a possible peacekeeping mission, including an agreement on the countries that will take part. In this regard, Russia has already made it known that it will not accept the presence of NATO soldiers on Ukrainian soil, rejecting the proposal of European countries to put together a 'coalition of the willing' to monitor the application of a possible peace agreement, but according to sources Moscow is not opposed to countries such as China, which have remained neutral in the conflict, deploying forces in Ukraine.
