Ukraine, Zelensky: ‘No significant response from Moscow, they want to prolong the war’

Milan, 13 Mar. (LaPresse) – ’Unfortunately, for more than a day now, the world has not yet heard a significant response from Russia to the proposals made. This shows once again that Russia is trying to prolong the war and postpone peace for as long as possible. We hope that the pressure from the United States will be enough to force Russia to end the war.’ So said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on X, reporting that he had been informed about the Jeddah talks between Ukraine and the USA by the delegation that took part for Kiev. ‘Our representatives informed the United States of Ukraine's principled positions. Ukraine was ready for an air and sea ceasefire, but the United States proposed to extend it to the mainland. Ukraine welcomes this proposal. The monitoring of this ceasefire remains an important issue and we appreciate the willingness of the United States to organise the technical aspects of this monitoring. We discussed the need to ensure security, cooperation with European partners and further joint initiatives,’ Zelensky emphasises.
