Bangkok (Thailand), March 29 (LaPresse) – The number of deaths in Bangkok, Thailand, has risen to 17 due to the earthquake on Friday, with its epicenter in neighboring Myanmar. The earthquake shook the Bangkok metropolitan area, where about 17 million people live, as well as other parts of the country. Many places in the north reported damage, but the only victims were recorded in Bangkok. Of the total deaths, 10 were killed in the collapse of a skyscraper under construction near the famous Chatuchak market, while the others were killed at seven other sites. Bangkok authorities said that 83 people are still missing.
