Ukraine: Holy See, Gallagher-Lavrov phone call, focus on actions to stop war

Vatican City (Vatican), 4 Apr (LaPresse) – Telephone conversation this morning between Monsignor Paul R. Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations of the Vatican and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov. ‘The dialogue,’ reads a note released by the Vatican press office, ’was dedicated to the general framework of world politics, with particular attention to the situation of the war in Ukraine and some initiatives aimed at stopping the war actions. The Holy See's readiness to continue its humanitarian commitment in matters concerning the exchange of prisoners was also reaffirmed. Lastly, some issues concerning religious life and, in particular, the situation of the Catholic Church in the Russian Federation were also examined'.
