Washington (USA), 4 April (LaPresse) – The European Union is preparing a fine of over a billion dollars against X. The New York Times writes this, reporting that Elon Musk's social media platform has violated the Digital Services Act, the European law to combat illegal content and disinformation. Penalties are expected to include a fine and demands for product changes, according to the Nyt's sources. The announcement is expected to take place this summer. The Nyt's EU sources said that the investigation into X was proceeding independently of the tariff negotiations, following Donald Trump's announcement on Wednesday. The investigation began in 2023 and last year EU regulators had already issued a preliminary ruling that X had violated European law.
