Dominican Republic: disco roof collapses, two Italians among the victims

(LaPresse) – There are also two Italians among the more than 200 people who died when the roof collapsed at the famous Jet Set disco in Santo Domingo on the night between Monday and Tuesday. LaPresse has learnt this from informed sources, although it has not yet been officially confirmed by the local authorities. It is thought that one of the victims is a Dominican woman with dual citizenship, and the other is a man. Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 218. This was reported by the director of the Emergency Operations Centre, Juan Manuel Méndez, who explained that the teams on site are still searching for victims and potential survivors, even though no one has been found alive since Tuesday afternoon. ‘We will not abandon anyone. Our work will continue,’ he assured.
