Starmer: ‘Disappointing election results, accelerate change’

Milan, 2 May (LaPresse) – British Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the results of yesterday's local and by-elections in the UK as ‘disappointing’ overall. Although the outcome of the by-elections for the Runcorn and Helsby seat was tight, with Nigel Farage's party candidate winning by 6 votes, and Labour defending 3 mayoral posts, the results are ‘disappointing,’ Starmer told the BBC. ‘The message I take from this election is that we need to go further and we need to accelerate the change that people want to see,’ Starmer added, pointing out that the “tough decisions” made by his government in the budget are starting to bear fruit.
