USA: Shooting at family party in Houston leaves one dead, 15 injured

Houston (Texas, USA), May 5 (LaPresse/AP) – Sixteen people were shot during a family party in Houston, Texas, leaving one person dead. According to Houston Assistant Police Chief Patricia Cantu, the shooting occurred around 12:50 a.m. local time Sunday at a home in southeast Houston. The deceased is an 18-year-old, while the injured range in age from 16 to 40. Cantu stated that the event was a family gathering and that an uninvited guest was asked to leave but began shooting, prompting others to return fire. Several individuals remain in critical condition and have undergone surgery. Police have detained, questioned, and released several people, but no suspects are currently in custody.
