Middle East: Israel rejects latest draft agreement for truce and hostages

This was reported by The Times of Israel, citing a senior Israeli official, after the Lebanese TV station Al-Mayadeen, linked to Hezbollah, reported that Israel had accepted the new draft agreement in principle. ‘The proposal received from Israel cannot be accepted by any responsible government,’ the official said, without providing further details. According to Al-Mayadeen, the draft accepted by Israel provided for a ceasefire of about 70 days, during which 10 hostages (5 alive and 5 dead) would be released in two phases, modifying the so-called Witkoff plan, which provided for a shorter ceasefire for the release of about 10 live hostages.
