Roland Garros: Sonego defeated in his debut by Shelton in 5 sets

Milan, 26 May (LaPresse) – In the first evening session of Roland Garros 2025 and in the first match played on the Philippe Chatrier court with the plaque dedicated to Rafa Nadal, Lorenzo Sonego surrendered in five sets to Ben Shelton, who advanced to the second round by defeating the Piedmontese 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in 3 hours and 31 minutes. The first day of Roland Garros thus ended with Italy winning two matches (Musetti against Hanfmann and Gigante against Hassan) and losing two (Nardi defeated by Marozsan and Sonego beaten by Shelton).
