Rome, Aug. 8 (LaPresse) – European Council President Antonio Costa stated that the Israeli government’s decision to occupy Gaza City will have consequences on EU–Israel relations.
"I strongly urge the Israeli government to reconsider its decision to occupy Gaza City. Such an operation, together with the continued illegal expansion of settlements in the West Bank, the massive destruction in Gaza, the blocking of humanitarian aid, and the spread of famine, not only violates the agreement with the EU announced by the High Representative on July 19, but also undermines the core principles of international law and universal values," Costa wrote on X.
"Such a decision must have consequences on EU–Israel relations, which will have to be assessed by the Council," he added.
