Ukraine: telephone conversation between Putin and Xi Jinping

Rome, 8 August (LaPresse) – Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The news was reported by China Central Television. The Chinese media reported that during the conversation, Putin expressed Russia's view on the current situation in Ukraine and recent contacts between Russia and the United States, and said that Moscow ‘highly appreciates China's constructive role in the political resolution of the crisis.’ Putin then stated that ‘the Russia-China global strategic partnership of coordination will not change under any circumstances’ and that ‘Russia is willing to continue to maintain close communication with China.’ The two heads of state, according to Chinese media reports, ‘positively assessed the high level of mutual political trust and strategic cooperation between China and Russia and agreed to jointly promote the further development of bilateral relations.’
