Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo), Sep 9 (LaPresse/AP) – At least 60 people were killed in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo during a nighttime attack by a rebel group affiliated with the Islamic State, the Allied Democratic Forces (Adf), in Ntoyo, North Kivu, where residents had gathered for a funeral. “The Adf attack caused about 60 deaths, but the final count will be announced later as authorities have just sent teams to the area to count the number of people decapitated,” local administrator Colonel Alain Kiwewa told the Associated Press. “There were about ten rebels. I saw machetes. They told people to gather in one place and started beheading them. I heard people screaming and fainted,” recounted a survivor who was at the funeral.
