Turin, Sep 9 (LaPresse) – Israel “wants to end the war in Gaza based on the proposal of US President Donald Trump and in accordance with the principles established by the security cabinet,” stated Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, during a meeting in Zagreb with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, as reported by Ynet. Trump stated on Sunday that Israel had agreed to his terms for a hostages deal to end the war, although Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet convened a cabinet meeting to discuss the exchange—which could face resistance from coalition allies regarding any commitment to withdraw from Gaza. According to an Arab source cited by Times of Israel, the proposal includes Hamas releasing all remaining hostages within the first 48 hours of the agreement in exchange for a US guarantee that Israel will not resume the war, along with the release of several thousand Palestinians held in Israeli prisons, including around 250 serving life sentences for involvement in attacks that killed Israeli citizens.
