Frankfurt (Germany), 9 September (LaPresse) – Germany and France, in a position paper obtained by Dpa, propose new EU sanctions against Russia. These sanctions target the Russian energy sector. Berlin and Paris claim to be targeting other oil companies such as Lukoil and oil service companies. These could also include players responsible for exporting Russian oil to the EU or companies that trade in Russian oil. The proposal includes punitive measures against other players in the automotive, civil aviation, gold, mechanical and electrical engineering sectors linked to the Russian military-industrial complex. New import bans or higher customs duties on certain goods are also proposed. EU Member States are currently preparing the 19th package of sanctions against Russia.
