Metsola in Kyiv to open European Parliament representative office

Brussels, 17 September (LaPresse) – European Parliament President Roberta Metsola is in Kyiv today to express Europe’s continued and unwavering support for Ukraine. In her meetings with President Zelensky, Prime Minister Svyrydenko and Rada President Stefanchuk, as well as with the group and faction leaders of the Verkhovna Rada, Metsola is expected to emphasise the European Parliament’s support for: a permanent, just and real peace; continued efforts to weaken the Russian war machine through coordinated and severe sanctions; strengthening parliamentary cooperation and the need to move forward with Ukraine’s application for membership. During the visit, Metsola will address the Ukrainian Parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, and officially announce the opening of the European Parliament’s official representation in Kyiv (co-located with the EU delegation), demonstrating Europe’s increased presence and support on the ground. A press conference with President Zelensky and press statements with Rada Chairman Stefanchuk are planned.
