EU, von der Leyen: ‘Competitiveness crucial for Europe’s future’

Frankfurt (Germany), 18 September (LaPresse) – “The fight for Europe’s competitiveness is crucial: crucial for our businesses, for jobs, for our prosperity. But it is equally crucial for the future of Europe,‘ said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at a summit with German industry associations in Berlin. According to von der Leyen, only by strengthening its economic power can the Union defend peace and freedom: ’We must become independent in critical raw materials, defence and energy. And we must accelerate in all areas. This is our clear mission, and we cannot afford any further delays.‘ The President reiterated that ’the world around us is not waiting‘ and that Europe must move ’decisively and without hesitation”.
