London, Sept. 21 (LaPresse) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will announce tomorrow the recognition of the State of Palestine, according to several British media outlets. The BBC reports that the formal recognition will come with a statement on Sunday afternoon. In July, Starmer had stated that the United Kingdom would recognize the State of Palestine in September unless Israel met certain conditions, including an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and a commitment to reach a sustainable long-term peace agreement based on a two-state solution. Government sources cited by the BBC emphasized that the situation on the ground has worsened significantly in recent weeks, citing images showing hunger and violence in Gaza, which Starmer has previously described as “unacceptable.”
