Turin, 23 September (LaPresse) – Israel has announced the closure of the Allenby crossing between Jordan and the West Bank in both directions “until further notice”. The Israeli Airports Authority, which oversees the crossing, said the entry and exit point would be closed following a directive from the political level. Nazmi Muhanna, head of the Palestinian Authority’s Crossings and Borders Authority, told the Wafa news agency that Israel had informed them that the crossing would remain closed from tomorrow morning until further notice. According to Army Radio, security officials received instructions from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to close the border in both directions. The crossing had been reopened after being closed following last week’s attack, but was closed again for Rosh Hashanah. It was expected to reopen at the end of the Jewish holiday.
