Washington (USA), 26 September (LaPresse) – During his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky at the UN on Tuesday, Donald Trump said he was willing to lift restrictions on Kiev’s use of American-made long-range weapons to strike inside Russia, although he did not commit to doing so for the time being. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing American and Ukrainian sources. During the discussion, the WSJ writes, the Ukrainian leader asked the US president for more long-range missiles and authorisation to use these weapons to strike targets in Russia. Trump replied that he was not opposed to the idea, although both WSJ sources reported that the US president did not commit to lifting the ban. During the meeting in New York, Zelensky asked Trump for Tomahawk cruise missiles, which have a range of between 1,400 and 2,400 kilometres, the Journal sources also reported. The US administration is now considering the use of Tomahawks and other long-range weapons for Ukraine.
