Ukraine, Zelensky: “Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in emergency for 7 days”

Kyiv, Sept. 30 (LaPresse) – A critical situation has developed at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant due to a power outage. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening video address, cited by Ukrinform.
“It is now the seventh day, and such an emergency has never before occurred at the plant,” he explained. “The situation is critical. Due to Russian bombings, the plant has been disconnected from the electrical grid. It is powered by diesel generators. The generators and the plant are not designed for this and have never operated in this mode for such a long time. We already have information that one of the generators is malfunctioning,” he added.
Zelensky also emphasized that the shutdown of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant represents “a threat to everyone.”
