Rome, Oct 4 (LaPresse) – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza and proceed with detailed negotiations, in response to positive statements from Hamas, according to Wafa.
“We welcome these statements as they signal the intention to release all hostages and to adopt a constructive approach at this critical stage, which requires everyone to exercise the highest level of national responsibility,” Abbas said.
He also emphasized that “sovereignty over the Gaza Strip belongs to the State of Palestine, and the connection between the West Bank and Gaza must be established through Palestinian laws and governmental institutions, via a Palestinian administrative committee and unified Palestinian security forces, within a single system and under a single law, with Arab and international support.”
