Gaza, IDF chief: ‘Ready to resume fighting at any moment’

Milan, 5 October (LaPresse) – IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir told Israeli army commanders in Gaza that they must be ready to resume fighting at any moment, as the Israeli Defence Forces’ offensive has been suspended due to pressure from US President Donald Trump to end the war. This was reported by The Times of Israel. ‘There is no ceasefire, but there is a change in the operational situation. The political level is gathering the tools and results you have achieved through military action and translating them into a political outcome,’ Zamir said during a visit to the westernmost point of the Netzarim corridor, south of Gaza City, recently recaptured by the army. ‘If the political effort is unsuccessful, we will return to fighting,’ he stressed, according to the IDF.
