Rome, Oct. 6 (LaPresse) – U.S. President Donald Trump has urged all parties involved in efforts to end the Gaza war to “act quickly.” Mediators are meeting today in Egypt for indirect peace talks between Hamas and Israel.
The talks follow Hamas’s acceptance of some parts of a 20-point U.S. peace plan, including the release of hostages and the handover of Gaza’s governance to Palestinian technocrats, though the group is still seeking to negotiate on other points.
Writing on the social platform Truth, Trump said the talks have been “a great success” and added: “I’ve been told the first phase should be completed this week, and I urge everyone to act quickly.”
The U.S. president warned that “time is critical, or there will be massive bloodshed.” Speaking earlier with reporters, Trump said he believed the release of hostages would begin “very soon.”
As for the flexibility of his peace plan, Trump stated: “We don’t need flexibility because everyone more or less agrees, but there will always be some changes.”
He added: “It’s a great deal for Israel, a great deal for the entire Arab world, the Muslim world, and the whole world. So we’re very happy about it.”
