Turin, 8 October (LaPresse) – Four people have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a building under construction in central Madrid yesterday afternoon. Firefighters in the Spanish capital recovered the bodies of four people who had been missing since the collapse. According to local press reports, the last two were found at around 2 a.m. in the ruins of the building located on Calle de las Hileras between the Opera House and Puerta del Sol. The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, confirmed that the victims were a woman, the site manager, and three men, labourers from Mali, Guinea and Ecuador. The building was undergoing renovation to transform it into a four-star hotel.
