Frankfurt (Germany), 10 October (LaPresse) – In a joint statement, the leaders of Germany, France and the United Kingdom – Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Keir Starmer – welcomed the ceasefire agreement in the Middle East, the planned release of hostages and the resumption of humanitarian aid to Gaza. ‘We welcome the ceasefire agreement, the release of hostages and the resumption of humanitarian aid,’ the statement read. The three leaders praised ‘President Trump’s leadership’ as well as ‘the diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar and Turkey’ and the regional support that made the agreement possible. ‘It is now essential that all parties fully and without delay respect their commitments. We stand ready to support the next steps and contribute to their implementation,’ the statement added. Berlin, London and Paris also called on the UN Security Council to ‘express its full support for the plan and its implementation’ and pledged to provide immediate humanitarian aid through UN agencies.
