Turin, 10 October (LaPresse) – There are no plans for British or European troops to be present in Gaza after the ceasefire agreement. This was stated in a BBC broadcast by the UK Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, as reported by The Guardian. ‘It is not in our plans, there are no plans in this regard,’ she explained. ‘But there is an immediate proposal for the United States to lead what is, in effect, a monitoring process to ensure that what has been agreed is implemented on the ground, overseeing the release of hostages and ensuring that this first phase is carried out, bringing in the necessary aid,’ she continued. ‘It has also been made clear that troops on the ground are expected to be provided by neighbouring countries, and we expect that to happen.’
