Gaza, NYT: “In Sinwar’s bunker, note with instructions to attack civilians”

Turin, Oct. 11 (LaPresse) – A six-page memorandum, believed to have been written by Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza among those who planned October 7, details the militant group’s plans to strike civilians and broadcast the attacks live, the New York Times reports. The document was recovered in May 2025 after Israeli security forces raided an underground complex used by Sinwar’s brother and successor, Muhammed Sinwar, following his assassination. The August 24, 2022 memorandum “appears to be a directive from Sinwar with instructions for the [October 7] assault,” seven Israeli officials told the NYT. According to the report, the memo included directions for militants to target soldiers and residential communities, and to televise acts of violence so as to instill fear in Israelis and destabilize the country. “Two or three operations must be prepared, in which an entire neighborhood, kibbutz or something similar will be burned,” the memorandum reportedly stated, according to the U.S. newspaper.
