Gaza, U.S. envoy Witkoff and Centcom chief visit IDF base in the Strip

Turin, Oct. 11 (LaPresse) – The U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, visited an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) base in northern Gaza, on the second day of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Fox News reports the visit and published an exclusive photo of Witkoff. The White House envoy was accompanied by the head of the U.S. Central Command (Centcom), Admiral Brad Cooper. Under Donald Trump’s peace plan, the United States will work with Arab and international partners to develop a temporary International Stabilization Force. Cooper reiterated that there will be “no U.S. soldiers on the ground in Gaza” to implement the plan. “America’s sons and daughters in uniform are answering the call to bring peace to the Middle East under the direction set by the Commander-in-Chief at this historic moment. This great achievement will be accomplished without U.S. troops on the ground,” he wrote on X. During their visit to an Israeli army base in Gaza, Witkoff and Centcom chief Cooper were accompanied by IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir. According to reports, the purpose of the visit was to verify the completion of the IDF’s repositioning of forces, as agreed under the Israel-Hamas deal.
